Spread the love
What can I say about this beautiful bridge? the best way to describe would be like a flower promenade that happens to be in a bridge. You can see a variety of flowers and  as you walk the smell is truly amazing. It’s a summer scent festivity.
It was  actually a trolley bridge before it became a garden AND it was a woman’s idea to transform the bridge into a garden, Bravo! In 1929, the bridge no longer in use was covered in weeds, and Antoinette Burnham suggested the idea and the town and locals welcomed it.

The entrance is free, although you can make donations. The bridge is open from April until October.

A block away from the bridge is the Shelburne Falls Trolley Museum.

It was a bit late in the day, so I did not have a chance to visit the museum. There were some trolleys outside and you can actually take a ride in the city in Trolley number 10. It’s an experience in itself to ride in a pump car…added bonus: kid will love it too.

Now can you see the connection between the bridge of flowers and the trolley museum?  The trolley used to cross the bridge of flowers back in the day!

One of the items  that caught my attention was a green and white trolley that looked like a bus. Have you seen the movie or read the book: Into the wild? it’s about that kid that left home to live in Alaska, he left everything behind and decided to live his life like like in  the old time, hunting for food…and while he was there he lived in an old bus…I won’t tell you the rest, the story does not have a happy ending…Anyways, one of the items outside this museum looks very similar to the bus the kid  from the movie lived… check it out and judge for yourself:
