Nestled in the rolling hills of Ipswich, MA lies a beautiful castle, a historic one built in 1910 by Richard T. Crane Jr and his wife Florence. It is also known as the Crane State.

The Castle, an American Renaissance Style property, features a stunning façade with stonework, woodwork and marble fireplaces a 59 rooms and extensive gardens with stunning views overlooking the ocean. The property has a sunken garden, an Italian garden, a rose garden and forest garden which were designed by Frederick Law Olmsted.

In addition, to a beautiful landscape ideal for promenade, the Crane State offers a sunken Italian garden, a rose garden, a forest garden, a sandy beach, a salt march and wildlife sanctuary.

 Inside the castle, visitor will be transported back in time to the early 20 century and outside they can enjoy a hike, or a swim and wonder around.

Today the Crane State is managed by the Trustee of Reservation and it is considered one of the most beautiful properties in New England and several movies have been filmed there. Whether you are just looking to explore historical places or feeling adventurous, the Crane State will not disappoint!
