  1. It’s the oldest public museum still in operations in the Unites States:  It opened in 1824 and since then it has welcomed visitors from all over the world. It’s a US National Register of Historic places
  2. It houses a fine collection of artifacts that came on the Mayflower:  Visitors can see a cradle, a mortar, a sword, and a helmet that speak volume about the history of the Pilgrims.
  3. The exhibit narrates the story of the pilgrims:  The museum exhibition contains rich information and very detail information about the Pilgrims. Key facts include how many miles the Mayflower ship travel?  3,340 miles; how long did the trip take? 1,584 trip hours (66 days); how fast the ship travel? 2.10 mph; why did it take so long?  They zigged, they zagged, they stopped, they started, they did not travel in a straight line! The museum also exhibits paintings about the fist thanksgiving, the relationship between the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Native American tribe and more!
  4. The museum is located in Plymouth town in Massachusetts:  There are several attractions in Plymouth, the harbor where visitor can tour a big replica of the Mayflower ship; the Plymouth Rock (1620); a beautiful grist mill; several restaurants with typical New England sea food. On top of that, there are plenty of attractions nearby such as the Plimoth Plantation, a living museum, with people in “character” who will tell you how the pilgrims lived. The Cape Cod is approximately one hour away from Plymouth and if you happen to be in town for a couple of days, it’s worth a visit.
