As an outdoor person I’m always looking for hiking destinations with waterfalls! ahhh the sound of water…! I have heard about Gun Brook Falls and Chapel Brook Falls so I decided to plan my Waterfall discovery Expedition.
First, I went to Gun Brook Falls. It was a little bit tricky to get there, once in Fall road there is a little pond, and that’s pretty much the entrance. There is no any parking sign, but I parked there and other cars too.
The hike is short and easy, I would say about 10-15 minutes from where I parked. It is good for kid. There is also another waterfall in Falls road, you can see it when you’re driving, so don’t get confused.
I spent about 45 minutes here, I saw 2 waterfalls and the hiking distance is like 10 minutes between them. I think this fall is nice for photography and nature contemplation. It’s great to respire fresh air. This waterfall is not suitable for swimming, but keep reading…
My next stop was Chapel Brook Falls in Ashfield. The distance is about 20-30 minutes driving from the previous waterfall. This one was easier to find and the parking lot is pretty much close to the street, you will not miss that. The fall is 5 minutes walk from the parking lot, so essentially a hike it is not required to see the waterfalls. However, there are plenty of hikes trail around the park. I did the “Two bridge trails” and it was like a walk close to a river. Since I was not familiar with the trail I just walked 40 minutes and then stop and came back.
There were some people swimming in the fall base and it almost looked like an amusing park..(toboggan) …. it looked kind of funny!
From Massachusetts, with love.
